The Review: ChiChi Liquid Lipstick in 'Wild Child'

There is something about the formulation of a liquid lipstick that just excites people, myself included. They are creamy, opaque and often hard to budge - traits that are sought after when it comes to lip products. That's why if I were to recommend one product from Chi Chi Cosmetics to try, it would be their Creamy Matte Liquid Lipsticks.

These are much like many other liquid lipstick you may have tried when it comes to application. They're very wet and creamy, and take a little time to get on and in place. They come with a long wand that makes getting a precise application easy enough. 'Wild Child' is a rosy brown colour which makes quite a statement on the lips without being a bright shade. These lipsticks smell like strawberry donuts to me, which I love, but it could be a little sickly sweet to some and the scent does tend to linger.

My main issue with this product is that it doesn't set into a matte finish, at least, not with ease. It takes blotting and thin layers, and as this is a creamy product it can be tricky to get that super thin layer you need. If they simply had been called "Creamy Liquid Lipsticks" they'd be perfect, as this is exactly what they are. I don't have an issue with the product overall as it's still amazing, it just doesn't do what it says on the tube.

Due to this, it isn't necessarily a long wearing product. It will last through talking and everyday wear, but not through eating and drinking - unless you do the blotting trick and get it to that matte finish. Overall, I still recommend them if you're looking for a creamy liquid lipstick with incredible shades on offer, but not if you're looking for a long wearing matte.

  1. I have a couple of their liquid lipsticks and they are amazing! i love the formula & pigmentation - although i agree, i wouldn't consider them to be 'matte'

  4. It's definitely a confusing claim and I thought they would dry down to a no-budge level of matte. Regardless, they're great!
