One Sponge To Rule Them All
As a sponge enthusiast, two words I never thought I'd put together, I can say this sponge does indeed rule them all. A multitude of things come into play when it comes to the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, and all of them together make a must-have makeup tool.
I am someone who can't justify parting with thirty dollars for a sponge - sorry beauty blender - and that's saying something because I am the queen of outlandish justifications. The offering from Real Techniques falls into the same price category as the other sponges I've tried but the quality is far, far superior. The texture of the RT sponge is so odd, but it works. It's super springy, soft and best of all doesn't retain the level of moisture others tend to. I've gone in to dab at foundation with a thoroughly wrung sponge before and had droplets of water on my face, but that doesn't happen here - it's just ever so slightly damp.
As for how it applies foundation and concealer, it does take a little longer than some of the others I've tried. I'm chalking this up to the density and absorption of other sponges versus the Real Techniques. A little product is absorbed, but nowhere near the amount others seem to suck up. Once your blending is done, you are left with a natural, airbrushed and streak free application which is why I love sponges so much.
Do you use sponges? And if so, which is your favourite?
I just got this sponge the other day and I am so suprised at how good it is! I hate using makeup brushes and as they leave my face streaky. Sponges are so much better :) This is a great review. x

Been wanting to try those for quite some time now but I'm still not sure about the sponge thing...I'm a big brush believer :)

I have the issue with streaking as well which is why I love sponges!

If you love brushes it might not be your thing, but I've always had issues with brushes for some reason!
ReplyDeleteLoooooove this sponge! It's the only one I've tried, but enough that I'm not keen on splashing out on the Beauty Blender. I love the absolutely seamless, skin-like finish it gives, even though it takes longer to apply. I also find cleaning it a bit of a pain, but I fricken love the result!

The beauty blender is my favorite (though it is the only one I have tried haha). I love the extremely soft, bouncy quality it gives once you saturate it with water. Sponges provide a much more seamless, natural finish than brushes in my opinion!

I've been using this one as well and I love the finish it gives. I can't imagine paying for the original Beauty Blender though!
