As a complete beauty lover, while creating and looking at beauty gift guides might make me salivate, they have been done and we all know what fellow beauty lovers would love to receive this christmas. The real mystery to me, and almost everyone else it seems, is the guys. I have made a collection of things I know my boyfriend would love as he is one of the most difficult people to buy for. His interest lay largely in video games and he always snatches up the new releases for himself, so I'm left scratching my head.
1. The World of Ice & Fire by George R.R. Martin
Definitely a must have of fans of the 'A Game of Thrones' series. This is a history of Westeros and don't be worried if your guy hasn't caught up on the books yet, it's spoiler free. It confirms a few theories and all of that, but there isn't anything major that will make whoever you gift this to mad at you. This is a great one as my guy didn't even know it was out and was utterly surprised when he opened it up. Plus, not everyone enjoys buying books for themselves, so it might be on their radar and they just don't want to pick it up. It's a stunning book as well, big, weighty and full of beautiful illustrations.
2. Jewellery
This is another thing I think some people don't necessarily want to buy for themselves. I would definitely say to go simple, like the leather wrap bracelet above, if you are wanting to introduce them to the idea of wearing jewellery. If the person you are buying for is already a jewellery enthusiast you can definitely go a bit more out there, just mimic the style of what they already own!
3. Video Games
It is a great time of year for this as there are multiple video game releases at once and most people can't afford, nor have the time, to buy and play five hot new releases within the month. So if you're quick, you might be able to snatch up the next game on their "to play" list. This can be a tricky one if you aren't familiar with their collection, but if you're a girlfriend or a sister it's not too hard to have a poke around, and honestly if you're a girlfriend you'll probably know what he's been playing as your text messages would have been ignored in favour of his game time.
4. Shoes
This is a big one for guys who don't like to buy themselves clothes, which is actually quite a few of them so far as my experience goes (they're crazy). The all black vans featured above are perfect, as Vans are usually a winner in guys eyes, and all black anything is just great, basic and to most people's taste. They aren't a cheap gift, so they still feel special to receive, but they are also very practical.
5. Headphones
If the guy you're buying for is always on their computer, be it for games, videos or music, a nice pair of quality headphones is a great way to go - assuming they don't already own a pair. Anything sound cancelling is great, and these come in at a lot of different prices so there is something for every budget. There are also so many incredible designs, so you can have a lot of fun picking out the pair you think they will love the most.
6. Beanies
This one depends on whether the guy you're buying for is a fan, but if they are it's something they can never have enough of. There are so many different colours, styles and shapes - think along the wavelength of handbags - so you will be sure to find something he doesn't already have.
7. Fragrance
This is another thing guys can be clueless on. If your guy has a favourite, count yourself lucky first of all, and then maybe buy him something that's in the same perfume family, or has a similar scent. If you're shopping for a more clueless person, go with something quite popular, something you like that isn't too "unique" smelling and definitely not anything overpowering. The ladies at the counter are usually super helpful for this kind of thing, and if you list your criteria they will help you find a perfect match.
8. Chocolate
If all else fails or you need something to pair with a present, chocolate is golden. I always add Lindt truffles to my boyfriend's presents and they are always what he's most enthusiastic about - go figure. This can be replaced for alcohol or any kind of food or drink your guy loves. I personally love receiving chocolates with my gifts as well, so this really goes for anyone you're gifting to!
I know I'm a little late to the party, but I hope this gave you some inspiration be it for Christmas, birthdays or anniversaries!
