Makeup brushes can get ridiculously pricey, and while some may be worth the investment there are plenty of quality brushes you can pick up at a 'drugstore' price. There are so many brands on the market that great brushes, but I've compiled some of the brands I love and have had great experiences with.
Sigma Brushes
These are the priciest of the lower-end brushes that I'm going to be discussing (at least here in Australia), but they are of an incredible quality and stock such a diverse range that you will find exactly what you're looking for. My two favourites are their powder and crease brush and I find myself reaching for them almost daily. Sigma dominate my collection as they sell them in even more affordable sets and bundles. If you are wanting to dip your toes into Sigma brushes I definitely recommend picking up a travel set as they contain a bit of everything and retail for around $75.
EcoTools
EcoTools were the first makeup brushes I ever purchased so I have some serious nostalgia when it comes to them. This brush collection is more limited than Sigma, but there really is a brush to cover every base. I love their eyebrow and eyelash groomer to pieces and cannot do my brows in the morning without it! Their powder brush is also a stand out and I use it to give a light dusting of bronzer as it's fluffy and not very dense. You really can't go wrong with EcoTools, and I have heard amazing things about some of their foundation buffing brushes as well. Another great thing about EcoTools is how attainable they are - I can even pick them up in my local supermarket!
Real Techniques
This is a brand that I am majorly lacking in. I am currently in the process of researching their brushes so I can decide which ones to mass-order online. While I'm not super experienced in the Real Techniques department, my Expert Face Brush is close to my heart and works wonders for foundation and concealer. These are amazing because I can pick them up at my local drugstore and they aren't insanely expensive either, even if I would rather opt for an international online purchase.
What are your favourite affordable brushes and what Real Techniques brushes are a must-have?
great tips, need to try out this brush

I have nearly all of the Real a Techniques brushes. I have two of the bundles too for face and eyes. They are incredible for the price.
ReplyDeleteDo you watch the founders on YouTube? Sam and Nick? If not you should :)
Aah yes! My collection is pretty much all Real Techniques, they're just so affordable yet amazing quality. I really love the Buffing, Blush and Multi-task brushes. I've wanted to try Sigma for ages too, but more recently Zoeva brushes have been getting all of the hype!

Cool! I need to update my brush collection asap!

My collection is pretty much Sigma and Real techniques! They're both such amazing quality. I have a few eco tools brushes from when I first started getting into makeup, I still use their eyebrow brush too! x

I've been looking into adding some Zoeva eye brushes into my collection, especially after hearing that their blending brush is almost identical to the MAC one.
ReplyDeleteShopping around for brushes is the best!
ReplyDeleteI can't get over the quality for the price, especially when I have a look at more expensive brushes and they aren't as soft.
ReplyDeleteI've watched a few of their videos here and there but I haven't subscribed yet, I need to try to get into them!
ReplyDeleteI love real technique brushes! They are such great quality and an affordable price!

They're amazing!
ReplyDeleteI really love sigma brushes, I wish they sold them all over the world, they are so expensive to get shipped. You should try the bdelliumn 776, its my favourite brush, I've had it for 2 years and its still going strong!

RT brushes are incredible - I won't use anything other than the expert face brush for foundation! Next on my list is some eye brushes!
ReplyDeleteFrancine from The Graduate Goddess xx
I'll definitely look into it! And I agree, Sigma brushes are hard to get where I live too.
ReplyDeleteIt can be intimidating, because even the cheaper ones are not incredibly cheap! Definitely stick to the cult favourites because nine times out of ten they are favourites for a reason.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the recommendation! I'll definitely add it to my list. x
ReplyDeleteIt can be so hard to find great brushes, I have definitely had some bad ones in my time.
ReplyDeleteThey're amazing!
ReplyDeleteI want their eye brushes too, but I also want multiple blender brushes and I don't think they sell their separately which is a bummer.
ReplyDeleteOoh I love RT and EcoTools brushes xx
ReplyDeletePractically all my brushes are real techniques! They're the best I've tried, you defiantly should get some more!
ReplyDeleteThe Lipstick, The Girl and Her Wardrobe
I love your blog, it's so pretty!

They're both so amazing, I can't believe how affordable they are!
ReplyDeleteI've been watching a lot of YouTube videos and reading a lot of blogs that detail what they use which brush with to get an idea of which I need and which I don't! The sets seems really handy, though.
ReplyDeleteReal Techniques brushes are great. I also love EcoTools too, so underrated and surprisingly good for the price :) x
