Minimal Makeup

As much as I love makeup, applying a full face every day is not something I enjoy. Slapping on a few products without having to think too much about it is the way I like to go on a day to day basis, and because of this I like to work on areas that really make a difference to the face.

Base
After I started to use bareMinerals Prime Time, I haven't been able to apply makeup without it. When I skip this step, I notice my skin just doesn't look as good and I get a compulsion to wipe it all off and start again. It really does improve the look of your skin, which is great because it's such a no brainer product to apply!

After this I spot conceal with my Maybelline Fit Me concealer as it's a great all rounder. Spot concealing is definitely the way to go when you're in a rush, as it makes such a difference without you having to spend forever blending everything out. Plus, if you have clear skin this step can take less than a minute!

Finally, I add a light dusting of my Face of Australia translucent loose setting powder to my whole face as it leaves my skin with a lovely, velvety finish while also setting my concealer. Loose powder is definitely the way to go and I really can't see myself going back to pressed. It's just so light and leaves the most beautiful finish to the skin without ever being cakey, even if you do go overboard.

Eyes
This is the area I would recommend to focus on most when it comes to minimal makeup. Eyes really do complete a look, and even just lashings of mascara can make all the difference. I usually avoid shadow and go straight in with my eyelash curlers to get perky lashes that will open up my eyes and make me look more awake. I then coat them with my favourite mascara, which at the moment is Maybelline's the Falsies Volume Express.

Next comes one of my favourite steps, brows! Sometimes I just fill them in lightly, but usually I'll take my time and fill them in as I usually would. I have been obsessed with my Australis brow palette so that is what I've been using.  I finish with a coat of my Maybelline Brow Drama brow gel, and that's my eyes done!

Complexion
Sometimes I'll add a little bronzer to add some life back into my face, but usually I'll just add a glowy blush to counteract the powder. Rimmel's 'Santa Rose' has been my absolute favourite lately, and really does make all the difference to your complexion!

That completes my minimal makeup routine! What are your focal points when it comes to creating a look with less?

  8. Definitely agree! It gives something for the powder to adhere to as well, which creates a lovely finish.
