Confessions of a Concealer Fiend: My Daily Duo

It was not my intention to make it look as though the concealers were sunbathing on a beach alongside a model, I just loved the texture of the sand and water, but I guess that's the visual we're going with today. As a self proclaimed "concealer fiend" you can imagine that I take concealers very seriously. I weigh up which ones I want to buy with care and anything proclaimed "holy grail" by another blogger I instantly lust after like crazy.

While I haven't dubbed anything holy grail as of yet, these two are what have come the closest for me and what I use on a daily basis. They are both products you have probably seen a million times before and are rolling your eyes looking at them now, but trust me, they're hyped for a reason!

Maybelline's Age Rewind is so light and blends into the under eye area seamlessly, yet provides such a nice coverage. It doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not complaining. If I'm applying makeup this will be a part of it without fail. I actually "shopped my stash" and pulled this out again a few months ago and I don't know how I had been without it for so long! If you've been putting off trying this I highly recommend taking the plunge because you won't be disappointed.

MAC's Pro Longwear (NW20) is a perfect match for me, so I tend to use it more for areas that don't need brightening. This is the perfect concealer for the "spot treating" method of foundation application, where you apply a super light base and simply add a high-coverage product to the areas that need it. This blends into the skin beautifully so you can use it in larger areas without fear it will look cakey, yet it still has such a high coverage!

Do you have a holy grail concealer and if not what comes closest?

  1. The Maybelline age rewind sounds really good, have you tried the Fit Me concealer as well? I heard it's a dupe for the Nars creamy concealer!

I currently use MAC pro long wear as well, it's super long lasting but it's not great at brightening, so i usually top up with a highlight concealer.

  2. I really, really want to try these two out, but I'd have to buy them online. One question, are you an NW20 in their foundations as well? I made the mistake of getting the same shade of the select cover up as my foundation before it and it was too light.

Right now I'm loving the Laura Mercier secret camouflage and LA girl's pro conceal. I also like the Nars creamy concealer (like errbady else) but find it a bit pricy

  9. You're welcome! It's something a lot of people put off just because it's so talked about, but it really is worth the hype. x

  10. Definitely pick it up! It is so, so affordable. x

  11. I do as well! It's not the best for full coverage, if that's what you're looking for, but it does have something magic in it's formula that brightens beautifully. x

  12. I was going through my photos to edit them and was like "great" when I realised the positioning! The fit me concealer is next on my list to try. I've swatched it in stores a few times and it always feels great.

  13. Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to trying MAC foundations yet . However I will say that I think NW20 is quite warm/neutral for the under eye area if you're looking for something brightening. A lot of the girls on YouTube who I see use this a lot (Shaaanxo, Lauren Curtis, Karissa) get NC20 and it's super brightening for them.

I think the general rule for under eye concealers is to get it lighter, however if you are looking for an allrounder I would recommend getting the same shade as your foundation so it blends seamlessly. Sorry if this isn't too much help! x

  14. I haven't tried Fit Me yet, but I've heard the exact same thing about it! I get kind of confused by the shades in the store as many of them seem too dark for me, but I definitely have to have a proper look next time I'm out - thanks for the tip! x

  21. It's strange that they don't have it!

  22. I've always wanted to try studio fix, but the lady who helped me at the MAC store said it was just too thick and drying for what I wanted it for. It's coverage still sounds so impressive!

  23. I definitely need to try the NARS concealer, I've been meaning to forever!

  24. Definitely give it a go, I'm sure you'll love it! x

  25. Really want to try the Maybelline concealer! I've heard nothing but great things. I used to have the MAC ProLongwear but sold it because it was the wrong shade and I found I couldn't control the amount of product with the pump, far too much came out each time! Having said that it's definitely a really good, high coverage concealer. My holy grail is without a doubt the Nars Radiant Creamy concealer, I'm onto my second tube now and I'm not sure I could live without it!
