The Review: The Body Shop's 'Instablur'

Let me start off by saying that the chase for this product was just as sweet as what's inside the tube. Slipping in and out of four stores empty handed I was by no means ready to give up on the elusive Instablur. On a whim after an optometrists appointment two weeks later I found myself making a beeline to The Body Shop to see if maybe, just maybe, Instablur was back in stock - and it was!

The Body Shop's 'Instablur' primer claims to do five things; control shine, reduce pores, hide blemishes, even complexion and extend makeup wear. While I'm on the fence about the shine reduction, I'm giving everything else a big thumbs up. If you love a silicon based primer as much as I do, you will love this as it smooths over the skin filling in pores along the way. I won't go so far as to say pores disappear, but they are definitely extremely reduced.

I apply a little of this under the eyes as well and it makes applying concealer a dream. Any product, anywhere on the face just applies so much more nicely with this on. It definitely has the "blurring" effect that it's name suggests, as redness and blemishes do look a little more faint once this primer has been applied.

If you've been eyeing this off I would definitely recommend giving it a go. People can be picky with primers, but I definitely think this is a great all-rounder for every day if you want to save your more expensive products from everyday use.

What is your favourite pore-hiding primer?

  4. Sounds great - i'm tempted to pick this up soon :)
My favorite primer at the moment is definitely the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser, i find it really helps lessen the look of pores ^^

  5. It sounds good! I like Benefit The Porefessional and Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch. Have you tried any of them? If so, do you think the Body Shop's is better? :)

  6. Thanks for the review! I've been wanting to try something like this for quite some time. I love a smooth primer so makeup stays on evenly (and for longer).

  7. Have you tried the porefessional primer? I really enjoy that one, but I'd love to give this one a try if it's similar because it's more reasonably priced! xo

  17. Maybe! I don't know if I've tried enough to call it a "favourite", but I have never gotten along with a primer like I have this one!

  18. I was trying to decide between that and this one, I would love to try the tea tree one at some point too, though.

  27. This feels similar to the Smashbox one in terms of texture, but I definitely think I liked the feel of the Smashbox one more as it was a bit thicker. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, though, definitely give this a try!

  33. Thank you so much! I really liked the brightness factor too, the colours of the magazine made all the difference.
