Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Nude-ist!

I have been looking high and low for this shade for what seems like months. The much coveted Kylie Jenner lip is what sent me in a frenzy for this product, and while I could have ordered it online, something about the hunt and satisfactions of finding it in store stopped me.

This is the first time I have tried a liquid lipstick and I am completely converted. I can't tell if this formulation is an incredibly good one or they are all this amazing, but I'm definitely going to be picking up more colours from this line as well as trying out others. Bourjois are doing something very, very right here with a smooth, creamy formula that is dry within the minute - plus the amazing colour selection. While this is a more nude shade, I can see the brights being even better as this formula is dry to the touch and doesn't bleed - transferring and bleeding being my biggest issues with anything dark.

I've heard complaints regarding application and a drying formula, but I've experienced neither. It was less foolproof than slapping on a sheer lipstick, but no more difficult than applying a regular opaque lipstick. My lips seem to always be dry and for this reason I have to prep, prep, prep if I want to wear a matte. However, I applied this on dry (but exfoliated) lips and I was completely impressed with the results. I would recommend moisturising your lips prior and blotting off the excess before application, but I do this with all formulas from glossy to matte.

This has definitely been a rave review, but I cannot find a fault except for the variance in colours. There are a lot of bright pinks and reds, but I would personally love to see some deeper colours added to the collection such as a rich burgundy - I'm getting giddy at the thought of a colour that deep with this formulation!

Have you tried these and if so what colour is your favourite?

  1. I tried this in the shade Pink Pong and I can't fault the formula, the best lip product I've ever tried. But the colour was so unflattering for my skin tone, I'm fair skinned and can get a little red in the cheeks and this shade seemed to emphasise the redness and was too much for my pale face. I've been curious about this shade and Peach Club as they're less bold and bright and might work better for me. I'm definitely not willing to give up my hunt because this formula is too good to not have in my everyday makeup bag! I definitely agree they need more shades and a burgundy would be perfect!

  4. I think a lot of deep reds and matt colours have that issue - drying of lips. I experience that with Ruby Woo but I love that lipstick .

  5. It is a big issue with mattes, but this one really doesn't seem to do that which is amazing!

  7. They had a second release of shades, because I think there were only four or five originally? So hopefully that means they plan to continue extending this line! I totally understand what you mean, but it's such a shame because that colour is stunning! I am quite pale and this shade in particular is quite flattering as it isn't "too much".
