Burgundy Times Nine
As much as I've heard the complimentary colour rules over and over in the beauty world, the idea of anything red toned around my eyes never appealed to me. Picking up a super affordable burgundy Kiko shadow some months ago on the insistence of a friend, I fell in love with not only the way the shadow looked but how much greener it made my eyes appear - it really was like magic! That's how I came to find myself considering a palette full of these warm, russety shades at a MAC store in the depths of Paris.

Today was a twenty seven degree spring day and I was unfortunately inside watching the world go by from my window as I studied for my upcoming exams. My fingers are crossed that it doesn't get too warm until after my exams are done and dusted so I can enjoy the hot weather.
I am never usually excited for summer as it can be quite hard to deal with in Australia, days shooting well into the forties sometimes. However, I miss the beach and can't wait to start swimming and laying out again so hopefully this year is more manageable than the last.
I have been spending a lot of time getting blog posts together for while I'm busy studying and have really gotten into the hang of scheduling things. I'm aiming to post every second day from now on, especially once my time frees up a little more in the summer break. I have been putting a lot of thought into my blog and I am so excited to be able to work on it more. I want to freshen up the design, work on my content and maybe even look into getting a better quality camera. Nothing is more exciting to me than the prospect of improving my content as it's something I think is so, so important.
How is the weather in your part of the world and what steps are you taking to improve your blog?

It's been a busy week full of back to school prep which is honestly the best part of going back to uni (stationary!). I've been spending time with friends, queuing some blog posts for when things get hectic and overall just enjoying the last days of the holidays. I officially went back today but only had one lecture to tackle, so it was a very easy way to start the second half of the year.
I've been having a lot of me time and getting back into things that I had kind of neglected the first half of the year. I was too comfortable in my music niche and honestly didn't listen to much of it. But I've been spending ages trawling through Spotify, which is a godsend, and building up fun playlists and spending time discovering a lot of new bands and catching up on what I've missed from my old favourites. I've also taken a lot of time to write, which is a major hobby of mine, and something I never really neglect completely, but I have been doing a lot more of it.
It's been amazing to catch up with a lot of friends who have opposite schedules to you making it impossible to hang out in the school year without meticulous planning and execution. I've found that the friends that have lasted since high school are those who I can pick up with right where we left of without there being any weirdness.
This has been a huge ramble, but I honestly find these posts so fun and calming to write. As always, there is a lot of the Kardashian and Jenner clan for you to feast your eyes upon, but they are killing it lately (but I say that every month!). I hope all of your months/weeks/days are going great. If you'd like to, please link me your Tumblrs - I'm always looking for new people to follow.
Note: I wrote this post a week or two back and forgot to publish it, that's why I'm talking about school as though I just started.
Dior Addict Lip Polish
I used to think the girls at school applying their lipgloss in class looked so chic and grown up, but when it came to me finally trying it I realised that there is nothing chic about how sticky and gloopy they can feel on the lips. I honestly felt cheated, so I had to settle for the glamourous image of applying lipstick. I am by no stretch a lipgloss girl, but this was a gift, so I felt that I had to give it a fair chance especially because I wanted to love it so much - it's Dior!
I can't say that I love this, it still has that feeling that all glosses have regardless of their formulation, but I like it a lot more than other glosses I have tried. I do, however, love the look of it even if the feeling still bothers me a little. I really am trying to use this more, especially since the shade is the perfect topper to most pink lipsticks whether you want a pick-me-up for a nude or to tone down a bright. It is something that I think will take a little more time, but I'm hoping to get to the point where it doesn't bother me at all anymore.
How do you feel about glosses? Love, hate? Give me some tips!
