August Favourites
Happy September, everyone! Last month was largely comprised of preparation, packaging and saying goodbyes. While there was a lot of room for beauty shopping while I was out and about buying essentials, I held back in anticipation of the shopping that would come in Paris, and for this reason most of my favourites this month are old products that have stood the test of time for me.
July Non-Beauty Favourites
Due to being on a no-buy (unless a favourite runs out, of course) I really couldn't see any products in my favourites this month that I hadn't spoken about before, many of which I have spoken about multiple times before, so I knew it wouldn't make for a very interesting roundup. Therefore I decided to write about my other favourites, which I generally enjoy more than beauty favourites if I'm honest.
Sterling Silver
I am a silver girl through and through and there is no jewellery piece I love more than rings. My Tumblr page is littered with instagram snaps of hands adorned in silver, bohemian style rings, and something about these images just spurs my love on even more.
I get attached to my jewellery quickly and want to wear it all the time. I like having 'trademark' pieces that you can always find on my person as well, and it can be really hard to find quality pieces that won't tarnish at a reasonable price. For this reason, I always opt for sterling silver as you can wear them in the shower, to bed and just 24/7 without the quality ever changing.
Stylish sterling silver pieces are also hard to come across, which is why my heart skipped a beat when I saw Lovisa were releasing a sterling silver range. I have had some of these rings for close to a year, and they still look as beautiful and shiny as they were the day I picked them up. I wear these rings 24/7 and only take them off when completely necessary, or when I'm cleaning them.
My favourites are the moon and stars ring, which is my newest addition, and the Hamsa hand with the turquoise stone eye. These are such well made pieces, the stones are so secure I have no worry of them falling off, and they retail for around $20 a piece. I can't say enough good things about Lovisa's sterling silver collection, and I really hope other costume jewellery shops start doing the same.
What is your favourite kind of jewellery to wear?
Summer Favourites
Summer is over and my heart is a little bit broken because of it. I had a particularly incredible summer this year, full of swimming, sun and the beach and I'm sad to see it go and to get back into the usual uni routine. I thought in honour of summer, I would do a special edition 'favourites' this month to see it out. Here are a collection of products that I loved this summer and are perfect for anyone going into the summer time where they live.
Top Four Posts Of 2014
As a psychology student I have a love-hate relationship with statistics. I find studying the sum of their parts difficult and unsatisfying, but the end result always excites me. This is the same when it comes to blogging, the only thing that excites me about blog stats is seeing the end product, and for me, that is which posts do the best. Popular posts are such a funny thing as those you think will be a hit rarely make the top mark, and those that creep up there are the least expected.
Instant Repurchase: Revlon's 'Lash Potion' Mascara
I feel like I need to reel it in when it comes to raving about this mascara, but on the other hand there has been a sufficient amount of time in between my last rave to warrant another. I never see or hear much about Revlon's Lash Potion which leaves me confused and wanting to speak out about it more as I feel like this is one of those products everyone should try. I have a hefty mascara stash, but this is the only one I ever need to repurchase instantly at the first sign of gloopiness.
This is my holy grail, and I can't say that about many products because I am constantly on the search for something better when it comes to everything else. I don't tend to pick up mascaras too often anymore because nothing ever compares to this. The thing that makes Revlon's Lash Potion so great is that it is an all in one with no sacrifices in any area. It isn't a "this is great but you could do this or layer it with that to get an even better result", it is the best result all on it's own. It gives incredible length, amazing volume and is super, super dark - it basically ticks every box. The brush is very large which I know can deter people, but I think this is the key to why this mascara doesn't clump as it does have quite a thick formula. I think it's obvious by this point that I strongly, strongly recommend this product.
What product in your stash makes you want to force everyone in the world to try it? Let me know!

Favourites #1
I don't find myself buying a whole tonne of new products every month and finding five brand new favourites as a result. My favourites are usually enduring, and sometimes even things I've forgotten about for awhile and am re-loving. These are just a few things I've been finding myself reaching for a lot over the past few months!
1. Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead
Admittedly I did finish this series a month or two ago, but I'm still in a mourning period! Definitely late on the bandwagon with this one and I only endeavoured to finish the series because of the movie which I haven't seen yet… Oops.
2. Sportsgirl Nail It! Polish in 'Lime'
It might be heading into winter here, but bright nails in gloomy weather just feels good. The best thing about this neon-green polish is that it smells like limes when dry! I know neon nails aren't for everyone, but I definitely have been loving them.
3. Batiste Wild Dry Shampoo
I have medium-blonde hair and should probably go for a more transparent batiste option because this can leave a white caste on my hair, but the smell is to die for! It is definitely worth the extra work to be able to have my hair smell this good.
4. Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
This is my ultimate multitasking brush. Perfect for both foundation and concealer, I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't like thinking about which brush to use for what too much. I know that I struggle to identify the difference between a concealer and shader brush half of the time.
5. Revlon 'Juicy Papaya' Lip Butter
Again with the spring makeup in winter! I have never and probably will never be an orange fan. I like corals, but only when they are more on the pinky side. However, this lip butter is the perfect amount of sheerness for me to actually like wearing orangey shades! And as with all the lip butters, the formulation is amazing.
6. Rimmel Scandal Eyes Liner
I hate smudged makeup more than most things and discontinued my use of pencil liners until I found this one. I find it does collect in the outer corner of your eye when worn in the tight line, but nothing as dramatic as I've found in other liners. Definitely a must-have for dark liner lovers.
7. NYX 'Milk' Jumbo Eye Pencil
This is such a great product for your makeup bag, travel or not, because it has three very different uses. It can be used as a highlight, a waterline liner and lastly as a base. They aren't bases that are infallible and won't crease on you on an unprimed eye, but I don't use them for this purpose anyway. I use 'milk' to amplify any colour I think will just be lost on the eye which is a problem I have with a lot of shimmery shadows.
8. Maybelline 'Copper Chic' Eyestudio Palette
This is not a palette I'd reach for to create an entire eye look, but rather use each individual shadow as a main feature in four different looks. Each are super pigmented, shimmery and quite unique in their colours. My favourites are the super coppery shade and the white highlight.
What is your #1 favourite at the moment?
Current Love: Neutrals
My glasses are a pair in the colour 'fawn' which I think describes them perfectly. They're a light, neutral brown and are a nice change from my identical pair in black. I am definitely a black girl at heart but I've been finding myself wearing more oatmeals and neutrals, which is different, but I'm loving it.
