Top Four Posts Of 2014

As a psychology student I have a love-hate relationship with statistics. I find studying the sum of their parts difficult and unsatisfying, but the end result always excites me. This is the same when it comes to blogging, the only thing that excites me about blog stats is seeing the end product, and for me, that is which posts do the best. Popular posts are such a funny thing as those you think will be a hit rarely make the top mark, and those that creep up there are the least expected.

Making The Best Of What You Have

This post has been in the back of my mind ever since I started blogging, and I think it stems from a feeling a lot of new bloggers tend to have. Seeing high definition photographs featuring the newest releases and knowing you can't reach that "standard" can be a little intimidating when it comes to the early blogging days, or may even prevent someone from starting a blog at all. What I want to convey to everyone is that what you have is enough - you don't need anything but an internet connection and something to access it with. One of my main hesitancies when it came to starting a blog was that I didn't have a fancy camera, I didn't own high-end makeup and I didn't have the money to keep reeling in new products for review weekly. Because I wanted to blog so badly, I made do with what I had, and I feel proud of what I have achieved that way. Merry Christmas!

My Go To Festive Makeup Look

When it comes to my Christmas day look, I have to confess I like to keep things quite simple. The Review: Rimmel's 'Santa Rose'

After hearing Suzie from Hello October rave about this blush, I had to pick it up. Her makeup always looks flawless and anything she recommends I want to buy. Rimmel's 'Santa Rose' doesn't look much in the pan. It's simple, quite sheer and looks like it would get lost on the cheeks. I don't understand it, but it does do something magical for your complexion.

The Perfect Nude

Nude lips are something I have struggled with for awhile now. Much like a contour powder, there seems to be a different "perfect" shade for each complexion and it takes a lot of trial and error to find it. Because of the natural pigmentation of my lips, nudes just didn't seem to work on me. The rosiness would come through, they'd look patchy or they were too light or dark for my complexion. I had never loved or even liked a nude until I tried the Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in 'Notting Hill Nude'.

I have been a brush and powder kind of person ever since I started filling in my brows, but pencils just seem to adhere to the skin in sparse patches a little better, so I wanted to give them a go. Giftguide for him

As a complete beauty lover, while creating and looking at beauty gift guides might make me salivate, they have been done and we all know what fellow beauty lovers would love to receive this christmas. The real mystery to me, and almost everyone else it seems, is the guys. I have made a collection of things I know my boyfriend would love as he is one of the most difficult people to buy for. His interest lay largely in video games and he always snatches up the new releases for himself, so I'm left scratching my head.

My Handbag Essentials

I'm such a handbag fiend that I have my purse-stuffing ways down pat. I have a little map in my head of what goes in what bag, depending on the size, and what bag is for what purpose - night out, day trip, university. With my new Zara mini croc bucket bag, it is a size where I can carry some "just in case" items around but not so many that it gets ridiculous. I would say money, ID and my phone are the real "bag essentials", but these are what I love having with me if I have the extra room to spare.

The 20-Something Crisis

I'm sure that any twenty-something who reads this title will instantly understand what it is that I'm talking about and may even feel a wash of relief at the fact that they are not alone. We hear so much about the midlife crisis and the stage of uncertainty between high school and university, so we are prepared for these and feel lost yet still very normal - but why does no one talk about the twenty-something crisis at length? Before I saw a couple of posts like this popping up across the blogging community, I was feeling quite alone with what I was dealing with until I realised that almost everyone else in my age bracket was going through something very similar.

The Zara Mini Croc Bucket Bag

I've been popping into every Zara I see and scouring the internet almost daily for any sign of their mini croc bucket bag. Finally, on a trip to give in and buy the mini city bag instead, I spied them tucked away under a clothing rack at the back of the store - success! Because it is summer in Australia they were only released in white and camel, so I had a tough decision to make as my heart was set on black. I settled on the white because let's face it, camel is actually a colour, but in hindsight is a great thing as every bag I own, bar one tote, is black.

My Favourite Summer Base

I have said so many times how avoidant I am of bases at all, so when I love a foundation I really love it. The Maybelline Dream Fresh BB is so light it feels like moisturiser on the skin, however does provide quite a nice coverage considering it's a BB. It can really be applied any way you like, a brush, hands or my favourite - a sponge. With a sponge it just melts into the skin and really does look as though you have skipped a base.

The Ultimate Affordable Mask

As someone with very stable, non-problematic skin I don't find myself ever wanting to splurge on skincare products. That being said, I had never really found an affordable mask that blew me away or even warranted a repurchase - until this. The Sanctuary 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask was something I didn't think I'd be able to get my hands on here in Australia due to it being from a spa in the UK, so when I saw it on the shelves in my local pharmacy I was over the moon.

My 100th Post!

When I saw that my posts number was in the nineties I was shocked. It feels like I've been writing this blog for a handful of months rather than the better part of a year! This is a big deal for me because I wasn't too confident in me sticking this out, due to failed blogs in the past, but I am really proud of myself for making this much content.
